Position: HSSE Manager (Health, Safety, Social & Environment)

Location: Ras Ghareb

Role Overview:

We are seeking an accomplished HSSE Leader to own and drive our Health, Safety, Social, and Environmental performance across the region. You will be responsible for developing strategy, leading a team, and ensuring our operations not only meet but exceed local regulations and international standards, including IFC Performance Standards and EBRD requirements. This is a critical leadership role with direct accountability to senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership: Develop, implement, and own the regional HSSE strategy, management system, and performance KPIs.
• Stakeholder & Social Management: Serve as the primary expert on HSSE affairs. Lead stakeholder engagement, manage the grievance mechanism, and oversee social performance programs (labor conditions, community relations).
• Risk & Compliance: Identify and mitigate significant HSSE risks. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and international lender standards.
• Team Leadership & Assurance: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HSSE professionals. Establish competence assurance frameworks for all critical roles.
• Audit & Performance: Oversee all HSSE audits, incident investigations, and management reviews. Report directly to senior leadership and lenders on performance.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Must Have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years in HSSE, with 5+ years in a managerial role within the energy, infrastructure, or industrial sector.
• Demonstrable hands-on experience with IFC Performance Standards and EBRD Environmental and Social Policy.
• Proven track record in team leadership and HSSE management system implementation.
• Preferred:
• Master’s degree or professional certification (CSP, CIH, NEBOSH Diploma).
• Direct experience managing lender due diligence and audits.
• Expertise in high-risk construction safety management.
