Job summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Offshore Pipeline Engineer to join our engineering team in Abu Dhabi, working on the detailed engineering and design of a significant offshore oil and gas project in the Middle East.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review engineering deliverables for offshore pipeline systems, including routing, wall thickness calculations, stress analysis, and hydraulic simulations.
- Prepare technical documentation such as design basis reports, material specifications, construction drawings, alignment sheets, and pipeline installation procedures.
- Perform and review pipeline design analysis including on-bottom stability, span analysis, expansion, and thermal buckling using relevant software (e.g., OFFPIPE, CAESAR II, OrcaFlex).
- Provide input on material selection, coating systems, and corrosion protection strategies (CP systems).
- Ensure all designs meet international codes and standards (e.g., DNV-ST-F101, API 1111, ASME B31.8), ADNOC specifications, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including subsea, structural, geotechnical, and installation engineers to ensure design integration and constructability.
- Review and assess contractor/subcontractor engineering and vendor documents.
- Support installation engineering, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
- Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and technical clarification meetings with clients and third parties.
- Support integrity management by contributing to ILI planning, repair strategies, and life extension assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Pipeline, or Subsea Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in offshore pipeline engineering, including detailed design, route selection, and installation support.
- Solid experience in shallow and deepwater pipeline projects.
- Familiarity with offshore construction, tie-ins, shore approaches, and trench/backfill methods.
- Strong command of engineering software tools including OFFPIPE, DNV PIPESIM, AutoPIPE, or ABAQUS for FEA.
- Fluent in English with excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, multicultural environment.
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience working on ADNOC offshore projects or within the Gulf region.
- Knowledge of subsea umbilicals, risers, and flexible pipe systems.
