Job Purpose:

The Production Chemist ensures the consistent quality and safety of potato-based products (flakes and fries) by monitoring and controlling the chemical and physical parameters of raw materials, process stages, and finished goods. The role combines production support, quality control, and process optimization to maintain product standards and compliance with food safety regulations.


Key Responsibilities:1. Process & Production Support

  • Monitor chemical and physical parameters during key process stages (blanching, drying, frying, and seasoning).
  • Ensure correct dosing and concentration of chemical additives (e.g., preservatives, antioxidants, blanching agents).
  • Verify proper operation of water treatment, oil filtration, and chemical dosing systems.
  • Assist production in adjusting process settings to maintain product quality and yield.

2. Quality Control

  • Conduct routine testing of raw potatoes, in-process samples, and finished products (moisture, oil content, color, pH, texture, etc.).
  • Analyze oil degradation, chemical residues, and product color (Lab* values).
  • Maintain detailed records of test results and corrective actions.
  • Support sensory evaluation and shelf-life testing of products.

3. Food Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all materials and chemicals comply with HACCP, GMP, and ISO 22000 standards.
  • Verify proper labeling and documentation of chemicals used in processing.
  • Support internal and external audits related to chemical control and product quality.
  • Participate in root cause analysis of quality or safety deviations.

4. Continuous Improvement

  • Work with production engineers to optimize chemical usage and reduce waste.
  • Research new formulations or process improvements for texture, color, and yield enhancement.
  • Provide training to production staff on safe handling and correct application of chemicals.


Qualifications & Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Industrial Chemistry, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience as a Production or QC Chemist in food manufacturing, preferably in potato, snacks, or frozen products.
  • Knowledge of food-grade chemicals, emulsifiers, and oil stability.
  • Familiar with HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
