2020 Summer Legal Internship - Southeast Immigrant Freedom Initiative
Primary Job Functions
Independently conduct legal intakes and client meetings within a detention center, and support communications with family members of actual and potential clients;
Draft research memos and filings in support of SIFI’s representation of individuals in confinement;
Support attorneys appearances and/or make attorneys before the Immigration Courts to support bond and merits hearings, and other related proceedings, if applicable; and
Support SIFI staff’s provision of legal services and other advocacy in conjunction with volunteers working remotely and on the ground.

Qualifications
Spanish language proficiency;
Access to reliable transportation for the summer as locations are in remote areas; and
Demonstrated dedication to and/or experience working with low-income, immigrant clients.
