Job Description

Position Overview

The Assistant Chef / Cook will support the Head Chef in preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of dishes while maintaining high standards of hygiene, food quality, and kitchen organization. This role is essential for ensuring smooth kitchen operations, adherence to recipes, and timely service to meet customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

1. Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Assist in preparing and cooking menu items as per the Head Chef’s instructions.
  • Follow standard recipes to ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Support in preparing ingredients such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and measuring spices.
  • Cook a variety of dishes including appetizers, main courses, and side dishes according to the menu plan.

2. Kitchen Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen area at all times.
  • Ensure all cooking equipment and utensils are cleaned, sanitized, and stored properly.
  • Assist in stock rotation and storage to maintain freshness and prevent waste.
  • Report any maintenance issues or equipment breakdowns to the Head Chef.

3. Hygiene & Safety Compliance

  • Adhere to Qatar Municipality (Baladiya) food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Wear appropriate protective clothing and maintain personal hygiene standards.
  • Handle food safely to avoid cross-contamination and foodborne illnesses.

4. Team Support & Collaboration

  • Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during peak hours.
  • Assist in receiving, checking, and storing food deliveries.
  • Provide support during special events, catering orders, or seasonal menu changes.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience as a Cook, Assistant Chef, or Kitchen Helper (minimum 1–2 years preferred).
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Familiarity with Qatar food safety regulations is an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods and work in a hot kitchen environment.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying moderate weights (up to 15 kg).
