Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end procurement of fresh fruits and vegetables ensuring quality, pricing, and timely availability.
  • Forecast demand using sales trends, seasonality, and market data to maintain optimal inventory and minimize wastage.
  • Source and negotiate with local farms, wholesale markets, and importers for best quality and commercial terms.
  • Monitor quality, shelf life, and compliance with food safety standards across all receiving and storage points.
  • Coordinate with logistics, retail operations, and warehouse teams for smooth deliveries, replenishment, and cold chain management.
  • Track expiries, damages, and slow-moving SKUs; suggest rotation, liquidation, or replacement strategies.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records, pricing history, and procurement data in line with audit and compliance standards.
  • Conduct competitor benchmarking, market visits, and trade fair participation to stay updated on pricing and supply trends.
  • Support income generation through vendor display rentals and ensure timely documentation and collections.
  • Ensure compliance with local procurement laws, hygiene regulations, and internal SOPs.
  • Prepare performance reports and support category-level profitability and efficiency improvements.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Graduate in any discipline with minimum 5 years of experience in fruits & vegetables procurement, preferably in FMCG or retail.
  • Strong knowledge of product categories, market trends, and supply chain dynamics for fresh produce.
  • Proficient in retail mathematics, MS Office, SAP, and BI tools.
  • Skilled in contracting, negotiation, and procurement practices with the ability to develop and manage supplier relationships.
  • Strong communication skills in English; Arabic is an added advantage.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ethical conduct.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with a focus on problem-solving using data and market insights.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and interpersonal skills to manage internal coordination and external vendor interactions.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly, manage information effectively, and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
