Maintenance Manager – Food Production Facility
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations within the factory to ensure optimal performance of equipment, minimize downtime, and maintain compliance with food safety and quality standards. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage a team of technicians, implement preventive maintenance programs, and coordinate with production to support continuous operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance Operations:
- Plan, schedule, and supervise maintenance activities for all production lines and facility equipment.
- Ensure timely repairs and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools to minimize downtime.
2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance (PM) plan for all machines.
- Monitor equipment performance data to predict potential failures and take corrective action.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer’s recommendations and industry standards.
3. Team Management:
- Supervise, train, and evaluate maintenance technicians and engineers.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure safety compliance during maintenance activities.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
4. Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations (HSE).
- Maintain compliance with food safety standards such as HACCP, ISO 22000, or BRC.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for audits and inspections.
5. Budget & Cost Control:
- Prepare and manage the maintenance department budget.
- Control maintenance costs by optimizing resources, energy use, and spare parts inventory.
- Recommend cost-effective equipment upgrades and improvements.
6. Cross-Department Coordination:
- Work closely with production, quality, and supply chain teams to minimize downtime.
- Support installation and commissioning of new machines and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with food industry standards (HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP).
- Leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
