e HSE Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe, healthy, and environmentally sustainable workplace by developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive HSE programs. The role involves fostering a safety-first culture, promoting sustainability, and driving continuous improvement through training, audits, and proactive risk management.


Accountability & Responsibility


Scope of Accountability

  • Oversee HSE program implementation across all functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Create a safe and compliant work environment, achieving sustainability objectives, and ensuring the company operates responsibly and ethically in the agri-food industry.


Main Tasks

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Develop and implement the HSE strategy in alignment with organizational objectives and sustainability initiatives.
  • Integrate HSE into all production stages, from sourcing to packaging, while driving continuous improvement through innovation and benchmarking.
  • Align HSE practices with international standards, enabling the company to compete in global markets and meet export requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with regulators, certification bodies, and local communities to maintain trust and uphold the company’s reputation.
  • Conduct regular HSE audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Identify potential hazards, evaluate risks, and implement preventive measures to protect employees, assets, and the environment.
  • Work closely with Sustainability Manager on initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint including energy optimization, water conservation, and waste management.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to integrate HSE considerations into operational processes, improving efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Foster a culture of safety and well-being by developing robust training programs and engaging employees in HSE initiatives.
  • Anticipate and address HSE challenges by designing innovative safety protocols, sustainable solutions, and programs to enhance compliance, efficiency, and safety culture.
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance indicators, driving continuous improvement in safety and environmental outcomes.
  • Respond effectively to and investigate workplace incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Lead the HSE team, provide guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and professional development.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all HSE activities, including risk assessments, training sessions, and incident investigations.


Key Performance Indicators

  • Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate: Tracks the frequency of injuries that result in time off work, highlighting the safety of the workplace.
  • Compliance Rate: Monitors adherence to HSE regulations and standards, including audit findings and corrective action completions.
  • HSE Training Completion Rate: Ensures that all employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to work safely and prevent environmental harm.
  • Environmental Impact Reduction: Tracks reductions in energy consumption, water usage, and waste generation to evaluate sustainability initiatives.


Required Profile


Education

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is an advantage.

Certifications: NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent; additional certifications in security and facility management are advantageous.


Experience

7+ years in an HSE role, with at least 3 years in leadership position.

Experience in the agri-food industry is a must.


Languages

  • Proficient in English
  • Proficient in Arabic


Other Requirements

  • Primarily operates in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Regular exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and odors typical of food processing plants.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and moving around production areas to conduct inspections and audits.
