Overall Purpose of the Job:
A Business Development Officer drives growth by securing new opportunities, closing profitable deals, and expanding market share. They also manage internal and external functions to strengthen KarmSolar’s position in the utility energy sector.
Primary Tasks:
Essential Knowledge:
Utilities Understanding:
- Understanding of the energy sector (Conventional and Renewables).
- Understanding of the electricity infrastructure and technologies.
- Understanding of electrical regulations, laws and by laws.
Market Knowledge:
- Responsible for the generation of leads related to the assigned business unit.
- Responsible for signing deals and growing existing book of business
- Managing high potential clients and projects.
- Attending conferences to network and gain market insight.
Essential Tasks:
Process Management:
- Sales process management and delivery through mapping out and developing a BD plan.
- Analyzing and interpreting gathered data to generate statistics and steps moving forward.
- Budling business models with the support of the business analysis team.
- Sending offers to new clients and following up with them through building strong relationships.
- Conduct site visits to clients in rural areas when needed.
- Liaising with the finance and technical team to negotiate and close deals with prospective clients.
- Overseeing the production of reports (such as financial statements, market share progress) and presentations to illustrate findings to the Leadership team.
- Preparing project presentations from a techno | Commercial perspective to present to investment committees and banks when needed.
Client Relationship Management:
- Contacting high potential clients to set up meetings and offer tailored energy alternatives.
- Developing profitable proposals and price offers to potential clients.
- Evaluating successful and unsuccessful client acquisitions.
- Overseeing the review of Arabic-English commercial contracts with clients and team.
- Responsible to deliver all client agreements, supporting documents and bank requirements.
Government Relations:
- Following up on the government relations process from start to finish that is required for every project.
- Understanding energy policy/laws and how they might affect the business.
- Attending government high level meetings.
- Lobbying for changes in the regulatory system to support and promote KarmSolar’s business model(s).
Additional:
- Assisting with company marketing team so it is aligned with the commercial goals.
- Administrative support (document & resource management) related to the business unit.
Educational background, Skills and Experience required:
- BSc/BA in any relevant discipline (preference over Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business)
- 3+ years of experience in any relevant field

Working Conditions:
The position requires a combination of desk work and site visits to prospective clients.
