This Smart Poly course is designed for complete beginners to get started with Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprints — UE5’s visual scripting system. You’ll learn what Blueprints are, why they’re important, and how to use them to create interactive game elements without writing code.
The course starts with project setup and explains the UE5 interface for Blueprints, including creating your first Third-Person character Blueprint. You’ll then explore the Blueprint editor, setting up variables like Boolean, Integer, Float, String, Vector, Rotator, and Transform. You’ll practice using these variables to control character actions and game logic.
Hands-on exercises include creating door interactions, picking up objects like hats, setting up health and damage systems, and controlling simple game mechanics such as a football target and ball system. You’ll also learn how to build Actor Blueprints for reusable game components. Each step is carefully explained with timestamps for easy follow-along.
By the end of this course, you’ll understand the basics of visual scripting, enabling you to start building your own simple games and interactive systems in Unreal Engine 5. This is the first step in a Blueprint series that will continue with intermediate and advanced tutorials.
