This course provides a complete overview of Social Welfare Administration, equipping learners with both theoretical understanding and practical insights. It begins with an introduction to social welfare administration, covering its evolution, nature, and scope, and explains how social welfare organizations function at local, state, and international levels. Various types of organizations—governmental, non-governmental, and voluntary—are examined, along with their structural setup, governing boards, and roles of office bearers.
The course details the responsibilities, functions, and training of social welfare administrators, including principles of administration, communication skills, and generic administrative guidelines. Legal frameworks such as the Society Registration Act 1860, memoranda of association, and by-laws are explained. Funding mechanisms including fund-raising, grants-in-aid, and national and international funding organizations are also discussed.
Additionally, learners will explore social welfare programmes and services for children, youth, women, elderly, scheduled castes and tribes, OBCs, and disabled persons, as well as social security schemes and the Integrated Child Development Scheme. The course concludes with evaluation methods, models, and best practices for assessing the effectiveness of social welfare programmes.
