About the Institute of Foundation Models We are a dedicated research lab for building understanding using and risk-managing foundation models Our mandate is to advance research nurture the next generation of AI builders and drive transformative contributions to a knowledge-driven economy As part of our team you'll have the opportunity to work on the core of cutting-edge foundation model training alongside world-class researchers data scientists and engineers tackling the most fundamental and impactful challenges in AI development You will participate in the development of groundbreaking AI solutions that have the potential to reshape entire industries Strategic and innovative problem-solving skills will be instrumental in establishing MBZUAI as a global hub for high-performance computing in deep learning driving impactful discoveries that inspire the next generation of AI pioneers

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the product roadmap for AI-powered applications such as conversational agents LLM-based systems and AI-powered tools
• Collaborate with research scientists ML engineers and software developers to translate cutting-edge AI capabilities into user-centric products
• Own the full product lifecycle — from idea to launch — ensuring alignment with both technical feasibility and user needs
• Lead product discovery by conducting market analysis user research and competitive benchmarking
• Specify clear product requirements and prioritize features based on impact user feedback and research advancements
• Manage timelines dependencies and cross-functional coordination to ensure timely delivery of AI product features
• Evaluate AI model performance and user experience iterating on product features based on real-world usage and feedback
• Translate technical details into clear user-facing features and collaborate closely with UX/UI teams to optimize interaction design
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on the latest advancements in AI LLMs agent frameworks and foundation model ecosystems

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering AI/ML or a related field required
• Master's degree in Computer Science Engineering AI/ML or a related field preferred

Professional Experience - Required

• 3+ years of experience in product management including at least 1–2 years working on AI/ML-based products
• Strong understanding of AI technologies especially LLMs generative AI or agent-based systems
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including AI researchers software engineers and designers
• Proven track record of shipping products from ideation to launch in fast-paced or research-driven environments
• Experience writing clear PRDs (Product Requirement Documents) managing backlogs and leading agile product teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-informed decisions
• Excellent communication skills able to convey complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
